The DS1233-10+ from Dallas Semiconductor is an EconoReset integrated circuit designed to monitor critical power supply conditions for microprocessors. It automatically restarts the microprocessor after a power failure and can be overridden by an external pushbutton. The device features precision temperature-compensated voltage reference and comparator circuitry to monitor the 5V power supply.
When an out-of-tolerance power supply condition is detected, the DS1233-10+ asserts a reset signal. Upon return to an in-tolerance condition, the reset signal is maintained for approximately 350ms to allow the power supply and processor to stabilize. The internal circuitry debounces the pushbutton switch, generating a 350ms reset pulse upon release.
This component offers accurate 5%, 10%, or 15% power supply monitoring and includes an internal 5kΩ pull-up resistor, reducing the need for discrete components. It is available in a low-cost TO-92 package or a surface-mount SOT-223 package. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for various industrial applications.
