DS1232N

The DS1232N MicroMonitor chip from Dallas Semiconductor is designed to safeguard microprocessor systems by monitoring three vital conditions: power supply status, software execution, and external override.

This IC features accurate power supply monitoring with selectable 5% or 10% tolerance detection. It holds the microprocessor in check during power transients and automatically restarts it after power failure. The reset signals remain active for a minimum of 250 ms after a power-fail condition or on power-up to allow for system stabilization.

Additionally, the DS1232N includes a pushbutton reset input with debouncing, ensuring a guaranteed active reset pulse width of 250 ms minimum. It also incorporates a watchdog timer function that forces reset signals to an active state if a strobe input is not driven low before timeout. The watchdog timer can be configured for timeout settings of approximately 150 ms, 600 ms, and 1.2 seconds.

Available in space-saving 8-pin mini-DIP and optional 16-pin SOIC surface mount packages, the DS1232N operates within an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It eliminates the need for discrete components, simplifying designs and saving space.
