DS1232N+

The DS1232N+ from Analog Devices (Maxim Integrated) is a versatile supervisor integrated circuit. It is designed to monitor three vital conditions for a microprocessor: power supply status, software execution, and external override.

This device offers accurate 5% or 10% microprocessor power supply monitoring, automatically holding the microprocessor in check during power transients and restarting it after power failure. It also monitors a pushbutton for external override, debouncing the input and guaranteeing an active reset pulse width of 250 ms minimum. The DS1232N+ includes an internal watchdog timer that forces reset signals to an active state if a strobe input is not driven low prior to timeout.

Packaged in a space-saving 8-pin DIP (0.300", 7.62mm) with through-hole mounting, the DS1232N+ is suitable for industrial applications. It operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C (TA). The reset output can be configured as active high or active low, with open-drain and push-pull options available. The device monitors specific voltage levels, including 4.37V and 4.62V, and provides a reset pulse width of 250 ms.

This component eliminates the need for discrete components in many designs, simplifying board layout and reducing component count. Its robust monitoring capabilities make it ideal for ensuring system stability and reliability in embedded systems.
