DS1216D

The Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated DS1216D is a 600-mil-wide DIP socket featuring a built-in CMOS watch function, NV RAM controller, and an embedded lithium energy source. This socket converts standard CMOS Static RAMs into nonvolatile memory, maintaining time and date information. It supports RAM sizes from 2K x 8 up to 512K x 8 with package sizes from 26 to 32 pins. The DS1216D is designed for through-hole mounting and operates within a voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. A key feature is its ability to automatically switch to an internal lithium energy source and enable write protection when VCC goes out of tolerance, preventing data loss. The watch function remains transparent to RAM operation, and it includes automatic leap year compensation valid up to 2100. The lithium energy source is electrically disconnected until power is applied for the first time to retain freshness.
