It utilizes TTL circuitry to decode four binary-coded inputs into one of sixteen mutually exclusive outputs when strobe inputs G1 and G2 are LOW. The demultiplexing function allows data from one input line to be directed to any one of the 16 outputs when the other strobe input is LOW.

 

Key electrical characteristics include a supply voltage range of 4.75V to 5.25V and current consumption of 400µA and 8mA. Typical propagation delay is 23 ns for 3 levels of logic and 19 ns for the strobe. The device has a typical power dissipation of 45 mW.
