The DAC8830IBDR from Texas Instruments is a high-accuracy, 16-bit digital-to-analog converter designed for single-supply operation from 2.7V to 5.5V. It offers excellent linearity with an Integral Non-Linearity (INL) of ±0.5 LSB and low noise performance of 10 nV/√Hz.
This DAC features a fast SPI serial interface capable of speeds up to 50 MHz, enabling efficient communication with microprocessors and DSPs. The output is unbuffered, contributing to its very low power consumption of just 15 μW at 3V. It also includes a reset to zero-code function upon power-up and Schmitt-trigger inputs for direct optocoupler interface.
The DAC8830IBDR is supplied in an 8-SOIC package, suitable for surface mounting. Its operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C, making it appropriate for various applications including portable equipment, automatic test equipment, industrial process control, data acquisition systems, and optical networking.
Key electrical characteristics include a fast settling time of 1µS to 1/2 LSB of full-scale output. The reference type is external, and it provides a voltage output that is unbuffered.
