The DAC8248FS from Analog Devices is a dual 12-bit, double-buffered CMOS digital-to-analog converter designed for direct interface with 8-bit microprocessors. It accepts a 12-bit word in two bytes via its 8-bit data port. The double-buffered inputs allow simultaneous updates of both DAC outputs, which is beneficial in multi-DAC systems.
A single RESET pin ensures both outputs return to zero. The device boasts excellent DAC-to-DAC matching and tracking across its operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Key electrical specifications include 12-bit resolution, ±1/2 LSB relative accuracy, and a fast 1µs settling time. It operates on a single supply voltage from 5V to 15V.
This converter is suitable for applications such as multichannel microprocessor-controlled systems, robotics, process control, automation, and automatic test equipment. It is available in a compact 24-SOIC surface-mount package, measuring 0.295" (7.50mm) in width.
