The Infineon CYPD3172P-24LQXQ, part of the EZ-PD™ CCG3PA-NFET family, is a USB Type-C port controller designed for power adapters. It complies with the latest USB Type-C and PD standards, offering a complete Type-C USB-PD transceiver, termination resistors, VBUS NFET gate driver, and feedback control circuitry for voltage regulation.
This controller supports multiple charging protocols including USB PD2.0, PD3.0 with PPS, QC4+, QC4.0, QC3.0, QC2.0, Samsung AFC, Apple charging, and BC v1.2. It features configurable overvoltage protection (OVP), undervoltage protection (UVP), overcurrent protection (OCP), short circuit protection (SCP), and over-temperature protection (OTP). With 6 GPIOs for independent functionality, it provides flexibility in design.
The CYPD3172P-24LQXQ is available in a 24-pin QFN package and operates within an extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. It integrates a low-side current sense amplifier (LSCSA) and VBUS discharge FETs.
This device is suitable for applications such as USB PD 3.0 PPS power adapters and Quick Charge 4.0 power adapters, as well as power adapters supporting both USB PD and legacy charging.
