The Harris 80C88 is a high-performance 8/16-bit CMOS microprocessor manufactured using a self-aligned silicon gate CMOS process. It is compatible with NMOS 8088 and offers direct software compatibility with 80C86, 8086, and 8088 microprocessors.
This device features an 8-bit data bus interface with a 16-bit internal architecture. It supports static CMOS design with low power operation. The 80C88 can address up to 1 Megabyte of memory and includes 24 operand addressing modes. It supports bit, byte, word, and block move operations, as well as 8-bit and 16-bit signed/unsigned arithmetic.
The 80C88 is available in various operating temperature ranges, including 0°C to +70°C, -40°C to +85°C, and -55°C to +125°C. It comes in Plastic DIP, PLCC, and CERDIP packages, as well as LCC and SMD options for extended temperature ranges.
Two modes of operation, MINimum for small systems and MAXimum for larger applications such as multiprocessing, allow user configuration to achieve the highest performance level. Full TTL compatibility (with the exception of CLOCK) and industry-standard operation allow use of existing NMOS 8088 hardware and Harris CMOS peripherals.
