CPC5610A

The IXYS CPC5610A is a silicon Data Access Arrangement (DAA) IC used in data and voice communication applications to connect to the public switched telephone network (PSTN). It utilizes on-chip optical components and minimal external components to create a complete voice or high-speed data telephone line interface, eliminating the need for large isolation transformers or capacitors. This IC incorporates the required high-voltage isolation barrier within its surface-mount SOIC package.

Key features include full-duplex data and voice transmission, transformerless telephone line isolation, and operation at all modem speeds, including V.90 (56K). It supports a 3.3 or 5 V power supply and includes a half-wave ring detector and caller ID signal reception. The CPC5610A is supplied in a small 32-pin SOIC plastic package, meeting PC Card (PCMCIA) height requirements, offering printed-circuit board space and cost savings. Its TTL compatible logic inputs and outputs allow for easy interfacing with modem ICs and voice CODECs. The line-side circuit is powered directly from the telephone line.

This DAA IC is suitable for various applications such as V.90 modems, fax machines, voicemail systems, computer telephony, PBXs, telephony gateways, and embedded modems for POS terminals, automated banking, remote metering, vending machines, security, and surveillance systems. The supplied application circuit complies with numerous industry standards including TIA/EIA/IS-968 (FCC part 68), UL1950, UL60950, EN60950, IEC60950, EN55022B, CISPR22B, EN55024, and TBR-21, and also complies with UL1577.
