It offers configurable baud rates from 300 bps up to 2 Mbps, along with hardware or X-On/X-Off handshaking. Four configurable GPIO signals are available for status and control functions.

 

Designed for ease of integration, the CP2104 includes royalty-free Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers for Windows, Mac OS-X, and Linux. It also supports USBXpress direct driver integration. The device operates from a supply voltage range of 3.0 to 3.6 V when self-powered, or 4.0 to 5.25 V when USB bus powered. The I/O voltage is configurable from 1.8 V to VDD.

 

This USB to UART bridge is available in a compact 24-pin QFN (4x4 mm) package, making it suitable for space-constrained applications. It is ideal for upgrading legacy RS-232 or RS-485 devices to USB, or for creating custom USB interface cables for devices like cellular phones and PDAs.
