The Bourns CGA0603MLC-05E is a ChipGuard MLC Series ESD protection varistor designed to safeguard sensitive electronics from electrostatic discharge. It offers a DC working voltage of 5V, with a typical clamping voltage of 30V and trigger voltage of 300V. The device features an extremely low leakage current of less than 0.01 microamps and a typical capacitance of just 0.2 pF at 1 MHz, making it ideal for high-speed signal lines.
ESD protection meets IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4, with ±8 kV contact discharge and ±15 kV air discharge capability. The response time is less than 1 nanosecond, and the device can withstand multiple ESD strikes. It is AEC-Q200 compliant for automotive applications and operates over a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.
The varistor is supplied in a standard 0603 (1608 metric) surface-mount package, suitable for automated assembly. Typical applications include camera links, touchscreen interfaces, GPS modules, antennas, USB 3.0 ports, and high-speed communication buses. The part is RoHS3 compliant and carries a California Proposition 65 warning for cancer and reproductive harm.
