The Littelfuse CG2470LTR is a 2-electrode gas discharge tube (GDT) designed for high surge protection in board-level applications. It features a typical DC breakdown voltage of 470V (400V min, 540V max) measured at 100V/s, and impulse breakdown voltages of 850V max at 100V/µs and 1200V max at 1kV/µs. The device offers a nominal impulse discharge current of 20kA for an 8/20µs waveform, with a maximum impulse discharge current of 4kA for a 10/350µs waveform. AC discharge capability includes 20A nominal (10×1s at 50-60Hz) and 100A for 9 cycles at 50Hz.
With a low capacitance of 1.5pF typical at 1MHz and insulation resistance of 10GΩ minimum at 100V, the CG2470LTR minimizes signal degradation in communication and data lines. The arc voltage is 15V typical at 1A. The surge life is rated at 400 shots typical at 500A (10/1000µs).
The GDT is housed in a through-hole axial cylinder package with 2 poles. It is RoHS compliant and lead-free, making it suitable for environmentally sensitive designs. Typical applications include communication lines, CATV equipment, test equipment, data lines, power supplies, instrumentation circuits, medical electronics, ADSL equipment, and telecom SLIC protection.
