The Texas Instruments CDC318A is a high-performance clock buffer engineered for distributing high-speed clocks in PC applications. This device takes a single input clock signal and distributes it to 18 outputs with minimal skew, making it ideal for Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) clock buffering.
The CDC318A operates from a 3.3V power supply and features an output skew of less than 250 ps and a pulse skew of less than 500 ps. It supports up to four unbuffered SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Modules (DIMMs). The device includes an I2C serial interface for individual enable control of each output, offering flexibility in device management. It operates at frequencies up to 100 MHz and provides ESD protection exceeding 2000V per MIL-STD-883, Method 3015.
Designed with optimized EMI performance in mind, the CDC318A may reduce the need for damping resistors in certain application layouts. The device is packaged in a 48-pin Shrink Small Outline (DL) package, suitable for various PC board designs. Its distributed VCC and ground pins help minimize switching noise, contributing to signal integrity.
