The CD4044BF from RCA is a quad cross-coupled 3-state CMOS NAND latch. Each latch within the device has its own Q output and individual SET and RESET inputs. The outputs are controlled by a common ENABLE input. When the ENABLE input is high, the latch states are connected to the Q outputs. When the ENABLE input is low, the latch states are disconnected, resulting in an open circuit condition on the Q outputs, which allows for common busing.
This latch operates within a temperature range of -55 to 125°C and is available in a 16-lead CDIP (J) package. It offers parametric ratings at 5-V, 10-V, and 15-V. The device exhibits standardized symmetrical output characteristics and is 100% tested for quiescent current at 20 V. Maximum input current is 1 µA at 18 V over the full package temperature range, and 100 nA at 18 V and 25°C. Noise margins are 1 V at V_DD = 5 V, 2 V at V_DD = 10 V, and 2.5 V at V_DD = 15 V.
Applications include holding registers in multi-register systems, four bits of independent storage with output ENABLE, strobed registers, and general digital logic. The CD4044B is designed for negative logic systems.
