The CAT9532HV6I-GT2 from ON Semiconductor is a 16-bit parallel input/output port expander optimized for LED dimming control. It can directly drive 16 LEDs, allowing each to be turned ON, OFF, or blinked at programmable rates. This device provides a solution for dimming LEDs in 256 brightness steps, suitable for backlight and color mixing applications.
Key features include 16 open-drain outputs, each capable of driving 25 mA. The device operates over a voltage range of 2.3 V to 5.5 V and is I2C and SMBus compatible with a 400 kHz bus interface.
