CA3140AS

The CA3140AS from Harris Semiconductor is a BiMOS operational amplifier designed with a MOSFET input stage and a bipolar output stage on a single monolithic chip. This design provides very high input impedance (1.5TΩ typical) and very low input current (10pA typical at ±15V).

This operational amplifier operates over a wide supply voltage range of 4V to 36V, making it suitable for both single and dual supply applications. It features internal phase compensation for stable unity gain operation and provides access terminals for external capacitor adjustment if additional frequency roll-off is desired. The input stage allows common mode input voltage capability down to 0.5V below the negative supply rail, which is beneficial for single-supply applications.

The CA3140AS is internally compensated for stable operation and directly replaces the industry-standard 741 op-amp in many applications. Its output stage includes protection against load terminal short circuits. The device is available in an 8-lead metal can package.

Applications include ground-referenced single-supply amplifiers, sample and hold circuits, long duration timers, photocurrent instrumentation, peak detectors, active filters, and comparators. It is also suitable for interface applications in 5V TTL systems and other low supply voltage systems.
