The CA3130AM from Harris Semiconductor is an integrated-circuit operational amplifier that combines CMOS and bipolar transistors on a single chip. It utilizes gate-protected p-channel MOSFETs for its input stage, providing very high input impedance (1.5 TΩ typical) and very low input current (5pA typical at 15V operation). This design makes it ideal for single-supply applications, allowing common-mode input voltage capability down to 0.5V below the negative supply rail.
The output stage employs a complementary-symmetry MOS transistor pair, capable of swinging the output voltage to within 10 millivolts of either supply voltage terminal under high load impedance conditions. The CA3130AM operates at supply voltages ranging from 5 to 16 volts for single supplies or ±2.5 to ±8 volts for split supplies. It has a bandwidth of 15MHz and can be phase compensated with a single external capacitor.
This operational amplifier is available in an 8-pin PDIP package, suitable for through-hole mounting. The operating temperature range is -55°C to +125°C. The CA3130AM is designed for applications such as ground-referenced single supply amplifiers, fast sample-hold amplifiers, and high-input-impedance comparators.
