The C8051F040 is a highly integrated mixed-signal 8-bit microcontroller from Silicon Labs. It is based on the 8051 core running at up to 25 MHz, providing 25 MIPS throughput. The device features 64 kB of in-system programmable Flash memory and 4.25 kB of internal data RAM.
This MCU includes a rich set of analog peripherals: a 12-bit SAR ADC with 13 external inputs and 100 ksps sampling rate, an 8-bit SAR ADC, two 12-bit DACs, three analog comparators, a temperature sensor, and a voltage reference. Digital peripherals include CAN 2.0B, SMBus/I²C, SPI, UART/USART, and an external memory interface. It also has a brown-out detect, power-on reset, PWM, and watchdog timer.
With 64 general-purpose I/O pins (5V tolerant) and an internal oscillator, the C8051F040 can operate as a standalone system-on-chip. It is suitable for applications such as portable medical equipment, weigh scales, test equipment, and fiber optic systems.
The device is available in a 100-pin TQFP package (14x14 mm) with surface mount mounting. Operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C, and supply voltage range is 2.7V to 3.6V.
