The STMicroelectronics BZW04-5V8 is a unidirectional Transil™ transient voltage suppression diode designed to protect sensitive electronics from overvoltage transients. It features a stand-off voltage of 5.8 V and a breakdown voltage range of 6.45 V to 10.0 V. The clamping voltage is rated at 10.5 V maximum under a 10/1000 µs pulse and 38.0 V maximum under an 8/20 µs pulse.
This device can handle a peak pulse current of 13.4 A (10/1000 µs) and 174 A (8/20 µs), with a maximum peak pulse power dissipation of 400 W. Maximum reverse leakage current is 1000 µA at the stand-off voltage. Typical capacitance is 3500 pF at 1 MHz. The diode is housed in a DO-15 (DO-204AC) through-hole package with axial leads and operates over a junction temperature range of -65 to +175 °C.
Applications include overvoltage protection in power supplies, communication equipment, and industrial controls. The fast response time and low clamping factor make it suitable for protecting voltage-sensitive ICs and low-voltage supplied circuits.
The stand-off voltage is 5.8 V.
The breakdown voltage ranges from 6.45 V to 10.0 V.
Maximum clamping voltage is 10.5 V under 10/1000 µs and 38.0 V under 8/20 µs pulse conditions.
Peak pulse current is 13.4 A for 10/1000 µs and 174 A for 8/20 µs pulses.
It is available in a DO-15 (DO-204AC) through-hole package.
