The BZW04-13B is a bidirectional Transil diode from Taiwan Semiconductor designed for overvoltage protection in general-purpose applications. It features a reverse stand-off voltage of 12.8 V and a minimum breakdown voltage of 14.3 V at 1 mA test current. The device clamps transient overvoltages to a maximum of 21.2 V under a 10/1000 µs pulse and 27.2 V under an 8/20 µs pulse, with corresponding peak pulse current ratings of 19 A and 85 A respectively. Peak pulse power dissipation is rated at 400 W for a 10/1000 µs waveform.
The diode offers a low leakage current of 5 µA at the stand-off voltage and a typical capacitance of 1200 pF. It is housed in a DO-204AL (DO-41) axial-lead through-hole package and supports an operating junction temperature range of -55°C to 175°C. The device is UL recognized and is suitable for protecting sensitive electronics from voltage transients.
