The BYW98-200 is a high efficiency fast recovery rectifier diode from STMicroelectronics, designed for applications requiring low conduction and switching losses. It features a repetitive peak reverse voltage (VRRM) of 200 V and an average forward current (IF(AV)) of 3 A at 75°C with a 0.5 duty cycle. The device can handle a surge non-repetitive forward current (IFSM) of 70 A for 10 ms sinusoidal.
Electrical characteristics include a maximum forward voltage drop of 1.2 V at 9 A (25°C) and 0.85 V at 3 A (100°C), with a typical forward voltage of 0.78 V at 100°C. Reverse recovery time (trr) is 35 ns maximum under specified conditions. Reverse leakage current is 10 µA maximum at 25°C and 0.5 mA at 100°C. Junction capacitance is typically 50 pF at 10 V and 1 MHz.
The device is housed in a DO-201AD axial through-hole package and supports through-hole mounting. Operating junction temperature range is up to 150°C, with storage temperature from -65°C to +150°C. Thermal resistance from junction to ambient is 25°C/W on an infinite heatsink with 10 mm lead length. Maximum lead temperature for soldering is 230°C for 10 seconds at 4 mm from the case.
Typical applications include switching mode base drive circuits, transistor circuits, and high efficiency rectifier designs where low forward voltage drop and fast recovery are critical. The device is RoHS compliant (unverified) and has MSL 1 unlimited.
