The Philips BYV96E is a high-reliability avalanche fast recovery diode designed for applications requiring high current and surge current capabilities. It features a maximum repetitive peak reverse voltage (VRRM) of 1000V and a maximum average forward rectified current (IF(AV)) of 1.5A. The diode also boasts a high surge current capability of 35A for a 10ms single half sine wave.
With a low forward voltage drop and fast switching characteristics, the BYV96E contributes to high efficiency in power supply designs. The component is housed in a standard DO-15 molded plastic package, suitable for through-hole mounting. Its epoxy encapsulation meets UL94V-0 flame retardant standards, and leads are solderable per MIL-STD-202, Method 208.
Key electrical parameters include a maximum forward voltage (VF) of 1.6V at 1.5A and a maximum DC reverse current (IR) of 5.0mA at 25°C. The reverse recovery time (Trr) is a maximum of 300ns. The operating junction temperature range is -65°C to +175°C, with a storage temperature range also spanning -65°C to +175°C.
