The BYV27-600-TAP is an ultra-fast avalanche sinterglass diode from Vishay Semiconductors, designed for high-efficiency rectification in power electronics. It features a maximum repetitive peak reverse voltage of 600 V and an average forward current of 2 A at 50 °C ambient with 10 mm lead length. The diode offers a peak forward surge current capability of 50 A and a non-repetitive reverse avalanche energy of 10 mJ, ensuring robustness in transient conditions.
With a maximum forward voltage of 1.15 V at 1 A and 1.35 V at 3 A, and a reverse recovery time of 250 ns, this diode is optimized for fast switching applications. The glass passivated junction and hermetically sealed axial-leaded glass envelope provide high reliability and low reverse current (5 µA maximum).
The device is housed in a SOD-57 axial package with plated leads solderable per MIL-STD-750. It operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to +175°C and has a thermal resistance of 45 K/W (lead length 10 mm) or 100 K/W on a PC board with 25 mm spacing. Typical applications include electronic ballasts and switch-mode power supplies (SMPS).
