The BYV16-TAP is a fast avalanche sinterglass diode from Vishay, designed for high-voltage rectification and switching applications. It offers a maximum repetitive peak reverse voltage of 1000V and an average forward current of 1.5A, with a peak forward surge current capability of 40A. The diode features a reverse recovery time of 300ns and a non-repetitive reverse avalanche energy rating of 10mJ, ensuring robustness in overvoltage conditions.
This diode utilizes glass passivated junction technology and is hermetically sealed in a SOD-57 axial package for environmental protection. It operates over a temperature range of -55°C to 175°C and has a thermal resistance of 45 K/W (junction to ambient with 10mm lead length). The device weighs approximately 369 mg.
Typical applications include fast rectification and switching in TV line output circuits and switch mode power supplies (SMPS). The soft recovery characteristics minimize electromagnetic interference.
