The BYT230PIV-400 is a dual fast recovery rectifier diode module from STMicroelectronics, packaged in the industry-standard ISOTOP® package for chassis mount applications. It contains two independent diodes with a repetitive peak reverse voltage rating of 400V and an average forward current of 30A per diode at Tc=75°C, δ=0.5.
Key electrical characteristics include a maximum forward voltage drop of 1.5V at 30A and Tj=25°C, and a maximum reverse recovery time of 100ns at IF=1A, VR=30V, dIF/dt=-15A/µs, Tj=25°C. The module offers low reverse leakage current of 35µA at 25°C and 6mA at 100°C, and can handle a non-repetitive surge forward current of 350A for a 10ms sinusoidal pulse.
Thermal management is supported by a junction-to-case thermal resistance of 1.5°C/W per diode and 0.8°C/W total, with a coupling thermal resistance of 0.1°C/W. The maximum operating junction temperature is 150°C, and the storage temperature range is -40 to +150°C.
The ISOTOP package provides insulation voltage of 2500 VRMS, with low capacitance (45pF) and inductance (<5nH), making it suitable for high-frequency switching applications. The module is designed for free-wheeling functions in converters, motor control circuits, and Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS).
