The BYG23M-E3/TR is an ultrafast avalanche SMD rectifier from Vishay General Semiconductor, designed for high frequency rectification and freewheeling applications in switching mode converters and inverters. It offers a high repetitive peak reverse voltage of 1000V and an average rectified current of 1.5A. The forward voltage is 1.7V at 1A, and the reverse recovery time is a fast 75ns. The device can handle a peak forward surge current of 30A and has an avalanche energy rating of 20mJ.
This rectifier features a low-profile DO-214AC (SMA) package, ideal for automated surface mount assembly. It is glass passivated with a low reverse current of 5µA. The operating junction temperature range is -55°C to 150°C. The device meets MSL level 1 and is RoHS-compliant (E3 suffix). Automotive-qualified variants (HE3/HM3 suffix) are available for use in automotive applications.
Typical applications include high frequency rectification in switch-mode power supplies, freewheeling diodes in inverters, and circuits requiring fast recovery and avalanche capability. The matte tin plated terminals ensure good solderability. The cathode end is marked with a color band for easy polarity identification.
