The BYG21M is a fast avalanche surface mount rectifier from Taiwan Semiconductor, rated for 1.5 A average forward current and a maximum repetitive peak reverse voltage of 1000 V. It is designed for automated placement and delivers fast switching with a maximum reverse recovery time of 120 ns.
With a peak forward surge current rating of 50 A (8.3 ms half sine-wave) and avalanche pulse energy capability of 30 mJ, this diode is well suited for applications requiring high surge robustness and energy absorption in inductive circuits. Forward voltage is 1.6 V maximum at 1.5 A and reverse leakage remains low at 1 µA at 25°C.
The device is housed in a DO-214AC (SMA) surface mount package with matte tin plated leads and a cathode band polarity indicator. It supports an operating junction temperature range of -55°C to +150°C. The BYG21M is RoHS compliant, halogen-free per IEC 61249-2-21, and meets MSL level 1 per J-STD-020.
