The BYD77D is a standard recovery diode manufactured by Philips, designed for general-purpose rectification and switching applications. It offers a repetitive peak reverse voltage of 200V and an average forward current of 2A when mounted with proper heat sinking at a case temperature of 105°C. At 60°C ambient with PCB mounting, the average forward current is 0.85A.
This diode can handle non-repetitive peak forward currents up to 25A for a 10 ms half-sine wave, making it suitable for applications with occasional surge conditions. The forward voltage is typically 0.75V at 1A when the junction is at maximum temperature, and 0.98V at 1A at room temperature. Reverse leakage current is limited to 1 µA at maximum reverse voltage at room temperature, and 100 µA at 165°C junction temperature.
The BYD77D has a wide operating temperature range from -65°C to +175°C for both storage and junction temperatures. It also features a reverse avalanche breakdown voltage of at least 220V at 0.1 mA, providing some overvoltage protection capability.
