The Diotec BY255 is a standard recovery rectifier diode from the BY251-BY255 family. It is designed for general purpose rectification in 50/60 Hz mains applications.
Key electrical specifications include a repetitive peak reverse voltage (VRRM) of 1300V, average forward rectified current (IFAV) of 3A, and a maximum forward voltage of 1.1V at 3A. The diode can handle peak forward surge currents up to 110A (60 Hz, 8.3 ms). Typical reverse recovery time is 1500 ns. Leakage current is a maximum of 5 µA at 25°C and 200 µA at 100°C.
Typical applications include 50/60 Hz mains rectification, power supplies, and polarity protection. The device is offered in a through-hole DO-201 package with axial leads. It weighs approximately 1.0 g and the case material is UL94V-0 rated.
The BY255 is compliant with RoHS (exemption 7a), REACH, and Conflict Minerals requirements. Moisture sensitivity level is not applicable (MSL N/A).

The BY255 has a repetitive peak reverse voltage (VRRM) of 1300V and a DC blocking voltage (VDC) of 1000V.
The average forward rectified current (IFAV) is 3A under R-load conditions at TA=50°C.
The maximum forward voltage is 1.1V at a forward current of 3A and junction temperature of 25°C.
The typical reverse recovery time (trr) is 1500 ns (1.5 µs).
The BY255 is available in a through-hole DO-201 (axial) package. It is also referred to as DO-201AA or DO-27.
The peak forward surge current (IFSM) is 110A for a 60 Hz half sine wave (8.3 ms) and 100A for 50 Hz (10 ms).
The datasheet states the BY255 is compliant with RoHS (exemption 7a), REACH, and Conflict Minerals requirements.
