The BU21024FV-ME2 is a 4-wire resistive touch screen controller IC from ROHM Semiconductor. Unlike most resistive controllers, it enables dual-touch detection and gesture recognition including pinch, spread, rotate left, and rotate right. This allows pan and zoom operations in applications that previously relied on capacitive touch technology. The controller uses a 10-bit ADC for sufficient resolution for finger or stylus inputs. It supports both SPI and I2C interfaces for communication with a host processor. The device includes adjustable touch detection threshold, programmable interrupt polarity, and built-in filtering options to eliminate false coordinates. It also supports firmware download from host or EEPROM. The BU21024FV-ME2 operates from a single 3V power supply (2.7V to 3.6V) and has a typical supply current of 4 mA. It is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications. The device is available in a SSOP-B28 package measuring 10.0mm x 7.60mm x 1.35mm, surface mount. It is suitable for automotive, consumer, and industrial products with LCD displays.
