BQ77910DBT Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The Texas Instruments bq77910 is a stand-alone, self-contained battery protection and cell-balancing device designed for Li-ion/polymer battery packs. It monitors individual cell voltages from 4 to 10 series cells and provides outputs to drive N-channel MOSFETs for power path interruption.

Key features include internal 50-mA automatic cell balancing, programmable protection thresholds and delay times for cell overvoltage, cell undervoltage, pack discharge overcurrent, pack discharge short circuit, and pack charge short-circuit current. It also includes fixed hardware protection functions such as preset overtemperature protection, open-cell detection, and open/shorted thermistor detection.

The device operates within a supply voltage range of 5.6 V to 50 V and features a low supply current of typically 50 µA in normal mode and 3 µA in shutdown mode. It is compatible with 1-mΩ current-sense resistors and includes an integrated 3.3-V micro-power LDO regulator.

Packaged in a 38-TSSOP, the bq77910 is suitable for surface mounting. Its applications include cordless power tools, electric bikes, UPS systems, and medical equipment.
