The BQ771605DPJR from Texas Instruments is a battery protection IC specifically designed for 2, 3, and 4-series Lithium-Ion battery pack systems. It independently monitors each cell for overvoltage conditions, providing a fixed overvoltage threshold with high accuracy of ±10 mV. An external capacitor programs the delay timer for the overvoltage protection circuit.
This device features low power consumption, with a typical quiescent current (I CC) of approximately 1 µA when cell voltages are below the protection threshold. It also exhibits low leakage current per cell input, less than 100 nA. The BQ771605DPJR is available in a compact 8-pin WSON package with exposed pad, measuring 3.00 mm x 4.00 mm, suitable for space-constrained applications. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.
For faster production-line testing, a Customer Test Mode is available with a reduced delay time. The external delay timer feature also includes detection for open or shorted delay capacitors on the CD pin, which can trigger the output driver in an overvoltage condition. This IC is RoHS3 compliant and has an MSL rating of 1.
