The Texas Instruments BQ7694002DBTR is a versatile battery monitor IC from the BQ769x0 family, supporting multi-chemistry batteries across 9 to 15 series cells. It provides essential AFE monitoring features, including internal ADCs for cell voltage, die temperature, and pack current (coulomb counter), along with support for external thermistors.
Key hardware protection features include overcurrent in discharge (OCD), short circuit in discharge (SCD), overvoltage (OV), and undervoltage (UV) detection. The device also includes secondary protector fault detection. Additional features comprise integrated cell balancing FETs, charge/discharge low-side NCH FET drivers, and an alert interrupt to the host microcontroller.
Designed for high-power applications, this IC operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. It communicates via a simple I2C compatible interface. The BQ7694002DBTR is supplied in a 44-TSSOP surface mount package, making it suitable for various industrial battery pack designs.
Applications include light electric vehicles (eBikes, eScooters), power tools, battery backup units (BBUS), energy storage systems (ESS), and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
