The BQ3285LFSS-A1TRG4 is a low-power real-time clock (RTC) from Texas Instruments, designed as a direct replacement for IBM AT-compatible computers and other applications. It provides time-of-day clock and 100-year calendar functions with alarm features, daylight saving adjustment, and leap year compensation. The device includes 242 bytes of general nonvolatile storage (NVSRAM) for data retention during power loss.
This RTC operates from a supply voltage of 2.7V to 3.6V (bq3285L version) and draws only 100 µA typical current at 3V. It supports both 12-hour and 24-hour time formats with BCD or binary data representation. The parallel interface allows easy connection to microprocessors with selectable Intel or Motorola bus timing. Additional features include a programmable square wave output, three maskable interrupt sources (periodic, alarm, end-of-clock update), and a 32.768kHz output for power management.
The device is housed in a 24-pin SSOP package (0.154" width, 3.90mm pitch) with surface mount mounting. It is available in tape and reel packaging. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 70°C. External components required are a 32.768kHz crystal and a backup battery for maintaining timekeeping during power failure.
