The device utilizes an accurate CEDV gauging algorithm with self-discharge compensation and features a high-accuracy analog interface with two independent ADCs. These include a 16-bit integrator for Coulomb counting and a 16-bit Delta-Sigma ADC with a 16-channel multiplexer for voltage, current, and temperature monitoring.

 

Communication with the host system is handled via a two-wire SMBus v1.1 compliant interface. The BQ28400PWR supports reduced power modes, low power shutdown, and JEITA/enhanced charging. It also includes SHA-1 authentication responder functionality.

 

Packaged in a 20-pin TSSOP, this IC is suitable for applications such as Tablet PCs, Slate PCs, Netbooks, and Smartbooks. Its flexible memory architecture with integrated flash memory allows for user-programmable settings to control critical system parameters.
