The Texas Instruments BQ27Z561YPHR-R2 is a highly integrated Impedance Track™ gas gauge solution for 1-series Li-Ion battery packs. It provides accurate battery monitoring with features like SHA-256 authentication for enhanced security and sophisticated charge algorithms including JEITA and enhanced charging.
This gas gauge supports both high-side and low-side current sense resistors down to 1 mΩ and operates with a low voltage of 2V. It features two independent ADCs for simultaneous current and voltage sampling, enabling a high-accuracy coulomb counter with an input offset error typically less than 1 µV. The device supports a wide range of current applications from 1 mA to over 5 A.
Communication is handled via a 400-kHz I2C bus interface and an HDQ one-wire interface. The BQ27Z561YPHR-R2 includes reduced power modes, with typical SLEEP mode current below 11 μA, DEEP SLEEP below 9 μA, HIBERNATE below 3 μA, and OFF mode below 1.9 μA. It also offers internal and external temperature sense functions and diagnostic lifetime data monitoring.
The device is housed in a compact 12-pin DSBGA package. Its applications include smartphones, digital cameras, tablet computing, portable and wearable health devices, and portable audio devices.
