The BQ27425YZFR-G1 from Texas Instruments is an advanced system-side battery fuel gauge IC designed for 1-series LiCoO2 battery applications. It employs the patented Impedance Track™ algorithm for accurate state-of-charge (SOC) reporting, automatically adjusting for battery aging, self-discharge, and temperature/rate inefficiencies.
This fuel gauge IC features an I2C communication interface for easy integration with microcontrollers. It supports a wide battery capacity range from 100 mAh to 4000 mAh and operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The device includes an internal temperature sensor for battery temperature reporting and a low-value integrated sense resistor (10 mΩ typical).
Packaged in a compact 15-DSBGA (YZF) format, the BQ27425YZFR-G1 is suitable for surface mount applications. Its design allows it to reside on the system main board and work with both embedded and removable battery packs. The integrated LDO enables devices to be powered directly from the battery pack, making it a versatile solution for battery management in various electronic devices.
