BQ26500PWR

The Texas Instruments BQ26500PWR is a highly accurate, standalone battery fuel gauge designed for single-cell Li-Ion and Li-Polymer applications. It is targeted at space-limited portable devices, offering precise monitoring and reporting of battery capacity.

This IC utilizes a Coulomb counter to monitor charge and discharge activity by measuring the voltage drop across a current sense resistor. It compensates for battery temperature, self-discharge, and discharge rate to provide available capacity across various operating conditions. The device automatically recalibrates battery capacity during a discharge cycle from full to empty.

Key electrical specifications include a single-cell configuration for Lithium Ion/Polymer chemistries and an HDQ communication interface. It supports a wide battery capacity range from 300 mAh to 6000 mAh. The BQ26500PWR features multiple low-power operating modes, including Active (< 100 µA), Sleep (< 2.5 µA), Ship (< 1.7 µA), and Hibernate (< 1.5 µA), making it suitable for power-sensitive applications.
