The BQ24740RHDRG4 is a high-efficiency, synchronous NMOS-NMOS buck converter battery charger from Texas Instruments, designed for multi-chemistry battery charging applications including Li+, NiCd, NiMH, and Lead Acid. It supports two, three, or four series Li+ cells and delivers up to 10A of charge current with high accuracy: ±0.5% charge voltage, ±3% charge current, and ±3% adapter current accuracy.
Key features include internal loop compensation, internal soft start, input overvoltage protection (OVP), and dynamic power management (DPM) with a status indicator. The device operates from a 5V to 24V AC/DC adapter input and offers ratiometric charge current and voltage programming via resistors or host control through a DAC or GPIOs.
The BQ24740RHDRG4 is available in a 28-pin, 5x5 mm thin QFN package (28-VQFN) and is rated for an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. It is suitable for space-constrained applications such as notebook computers, portable data-capture terminals, portable printers, medical diagnostics equipment, battery bay chargers, and battery backup systems.
