The BQ24088DRCR from Texas Instruments is a compact, single-chip linear charger IC specifically designed for space-limited portable applications utilizing single-cell Li-Ion or Li-Pol battery packs. It integrates a power FET and current sensor, enabling charge applications up to 750mA while maintaining a complete charging system within a small footprint.
The device supports charging in three phases: conditioning, constant or thermally regulated current, and constant voltage, with charge termination based on minimum current. It features ±0.5% voltage regulation accuracy and thermal regulation to maximize charge rate. Programmable features include a charge timer for backup safety and selectable battery insertion/absent detection.
