The BQ24083DRCR from Texas Instruments is a compact and versatile Li-Ion linear battery charger IC. It is designed for applications where space is a critical constraint, such as PDAs, MP3 players, digital cameras, internet appliances, and smartphones.
This device features integrated power FET and current sensing for up to 1A charge applications from an AC adapter. It supports 1-cell Lithium Ion or Li-Pol packs with a programmable charge current and a fixed 7-hour safety timer. The charger operates in three phases: conditioning, constant current, and constant voltage, with charge termination based on minimum current or the internal timer. It also includes automatic sleep mode for low power consumption and status outputs for charge and power-good indication.
The BQ24083DRCR is available in a small 3mm x 3mm 10-VSON package, suitable for surface mounting. It offers adjustable battery charge voltages of 4.06V or 4.2V, controlled via pin selection. The operating temperature range is from -40°C to 125°C (TJ).
