The Texas Instruments BQ2205LYPWR is a CMOS SRAM non-volatile controller with reset functionality. It provides essential features for converting standard CMOS SRAM into non-volatile read/write memory, supporting one or two banks of SRAM.
A precision comparator monitors the 3.3-V VCC input for out-of-tolerance conditions. When detected, the chip-enable outputs are forced inactive to write-protect both SRAM banks. Power to the external SRAMs is switched from the VCC supply to a battery-backup supply as VCC decays, and automatically switches back upon power-up. The device ensures SRAMs are write-protected until a power-valid condition exists.
Key electrical characteristics include a 3V to 3.6V operating voltage and an operating temperature range of -20°C to 70°C. It features a chip enable propagation delay of less than 20 ns. The controller is housed in a compact 16-lead TSSOP package, measuring 5 mm x 6.4 mm.
Applications for the BQ2205LYPWR include NVSRAM modules, point-of-sale systems, facsimile machines, printers, photocopiers, internet appliances, servers, and medical instrumentation.
