The BQ2083DBTR-V1P3 from Texas Instruments is an SBS-compliant gas gauge integrated circuit for battery pack or in-system installation. It accurately maintains a record of available charge in Li-ion or Li-polymer batteries, monitoring capacity and critical parameters.
This IC features an SMBus interface for reporting information to the system host controller. It is designed to work with the bq29311 analog front-end (AFE) protection IC to provide complete pack electronics for 10.8-V or 14.4-V battery packs with minimal external components. Key features include a powerful low-power RISC CPU core, integrated flash memory, a 16-bit integrating converter for charge flow measurement, and a 16-bit Delta Sigma converter for accurate voltage and temperature measurements.
The BQ2083DBTR-V1P3 operates over a temperature range of -20°C to 85°C and is supplied in a 38-pin TSSOP package suitable for surface mounting. It supports programmable cell modeling for maximum fuel gauge accuracy and can drive 3-, 4-, or 5-segment LED displays for remaining capacity indication.
