The BQ2060A-E619DBQ from Texas Instruments is an SBS 1.1 compliant gas gauge IC that accurately monitors available charge in rechargeable batteries. It supports multiple battery chemistries including NiCd, NiMH, Li-ion, and lead-acid, and is designed for 2-4 series cells.
Key features include a Coulomb counter for precise charge measurement, 15-bit resolution for voltage, temperature, and current, and a low operating power consumption of less than 0.5 mW. The IC communicates via SMBus or 1-Wire HDQ interfaces and can drive a 4- or 5-segment LED display for remaining capacity indication.
This device is suitable for battery pack or in-system installation. It monitors critical battery parameters and provides control for charge and discharge FETs in Li-ion protection circuits. The operating temperature range is -20°C to 70°C.
The BQ2060A-E619DBQ is available in a 28-SSOP package and is designed for surface mount applications. Note that this product is in the process of being discontinued, and new designs should consider an alternate product.
