This multifunction monitoring IC is designed to work with an intelligent host controller, providing state-of-charge information for rechargeable batteries and enhancing charge termination.

 

Key specifications include support for 1 to 3 series cells and multi-chemistry battery types such as Lead Acid, Li-Ion/Li-Polymer, NiCd, and NiMH. It offers a battery capacity range from 1000 mAh to 4500 mAh and features a Coulomb Counter for accurate charge and discharge current integration. The operating temperature range is -20°C to 70°C.

 

This IC is ideal for single-cell Li-Ion or 3-cell NiMH applications. It includes 32 Bytes of General-Purpose RAM, 96 Bytes of Flash memory, and 8 Bytes of ID ROM. An internal temperature sensor eliminates the need for an external thermistor, and a multifunction digital output port is provided. The device operates with low power consumption, drawing less than 80 µA during operation and less than 1.5 µA in sleep mode.

 

The BQ2019PWR comes in an 8-TSSOP package and is designed for surface mount installation. It utilizes a single-wire HDQ serial interface for communication.
