The BQ2018TS-E1 from Texas Instruments is a multifunction charge/discharge counter IC designed for battery management applications. It works in conjunction with an intelligent host controller to provide accurate state-of-charge information for multi-chemistry rechargeable batteries.
This IC measures voltage drops across a low-value sense resistor to calculate charge and discharge counts.
