BQ2010

The BQ2010 Gas Gauge IC, manufactured by BQ, is designed for integration into battery packs or systems to provide an accurate record of a battery's available charge. It operates by monitoring the voltage drop across a sense resistor, determining charge and discharge activity.

Key features include a typical standby current of 120µA, enabling low-power operation. The device supports a wide operating voltage range from 3V to 6.5V and operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. Measurements are compensated for current and temperature, and self-discharge is estimated using an internal timer and temperature sensor for accurate charge information across various conditions.

The BQ2010 facilitates communication via a simple single-line bidirectional serial link to an external processor. It can display capacity graphically using a five- or six-segment LED display. The IC is housed in a 16-pin SOIC package, suitable for surface mounting.
