The Vishay Dale BPW21R is a planar silicon PN photodiode housed in a hermetically sealed TO-5 package, specifically engineered for high-precision linear applications. Its design ensures linearity over seven decades of illumination level due to extremely high dark resistance, while maintaining a logarithmic correlation between open circuit voltage and illumination.
Key electrical characteristics include a reverse voltage rating of 10V, a power dissipation of 300mW at 50°C, and a typical forward voltage of 1.0V at 50mA. The photodiode exhibits a typical reverse dark current of 23nA and diode capacitance values of 1.2nF at 0V and 4nF at 5V (both at 1MHz).
This photodiode features a spectral response ranging from 420nm to 675nm, with an angle of half sensitivity of ±50°. The radiant sensitive area is 7.5mm². It is mounted via through-hole.
