The Bosch BMA250 is a digital, triaxial acceleration sensor designed for consumer market applications. It measures acceleration along three perpendicular axes and offers programmable acceleration ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, or ±16g. The sensor supports both I²C and SPI digital interfaces, providing flexibility for system integration.
Key features include an on-chip interrupt controller for motion-triggered events such as new data, any-motion detection, tap sensing, orientation recognition, flat detection, and low-g/high-g detection. This allows for stand-alone operation without a microcontroller, contributing to system power management. The BMA250 operates within a VDDIO voltage range of 1.2V to 3.6V and has a low-pass filter bandwidth that can be programmed from <8Hz to 1kHz.
Packaged in an ultra-small 12-pin LGA with a 2mm x 2mm footprint and 0.95mm height, the BMA250 is suitable for space-constrained designs. It is designed for surface mounting. Typical applications include display profile switching, menu scrolling, gaming, pedometer functionality, free-fall detection, and e-compass tilt compensation.
This sensor is RoHS compliant and halogen-free, making it suitable for environmentally conscious designs.
